Founded in 1999 and headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, All Our Kin is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the country’s child care system.
By strengthening quality and expanding access to licensed family child care, AOK’s work creates a triple win:
AOK strengthens the family child care sector through their innovative, comprehensive model that supports educators directly, equips organizations nationwide, and drives systemic policy change. Together, these programs expand access to high-quality care options for families while building sustainable businesses for child care providers and strengthening the early childhood ecosystem.
Family Child Care Networks
Training & Advising for National Partners
AOK partners with organizations across the country to scale proven approaches that strengthen family child care systems. Through technical assistance and training, partners gain the tools to expand the supply, quality, and sustainability of home-based child care in their communities.
Policy & Systems
Change
AOK advances policies and systems that strengthen family child care nationwide. Through research, advocacy, and cross-sector partnerships, the organization works to ensure educators receive the resources, recognition, and support needed to sustain high-quality early learning programs.
Family child care is home-based early learning run by trained educators who provide high-quality, flexible care for young children - many of whom are children of color and often serving families who need affordable care in their communities.
America runs on child care. It allows parents to work and local economies to thrive. Yet our country is at an undeniable inflection point when it comes to child care. The demand is high, but resources are fewer. With its innovative model, All Our Kin is uniquely positioned to seize the opportunity to transform child care across the U.S.
Collaborating with family child care educators is at the heart of their work. AOK’s personalized programs create outstanding child care options for families, and their relationships with educators inform every aspect of their mission.
THE RESULTS ARE CLEAR
All Our Kin transforms child care quality. Their providers score, on average, over 50% higher on research-based measures of quality than non-All Our Kin providers.
All Our Kin improves child outcomes. Children in the care of All Our Kin providers demonstrate better social emotional development than both their non-All Our Kin peers and the national norm, and significantly outperform these groups on math and language assessments.
All Our Kin reaches nationwide. AOK is proud to provide training and technical assistance to agencies and organizations across the U.S. Across 34 states and Washington, D.C., they have partnered with 300 agencies and organizations dedicated to improving accessibility to quality family child care. In turn, they reached over 20,000 educators who have cared for over 100,000 children.
All Our Kin was co-founded by women and continues to be led by women committed to strengthening the family child care sector. For more than 26 years, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jessica Sager has championed home-based educators and built a national movement recognizing the essential role these women play in their communities.
AOK is led by Sager together with Chief Strategy Officer Brandi King and Chief Operations Officer Dr. T. Tyler. Together, this dynamic executive leadership team guides the organization’s strategy, growth, and impact.
