Through its innovative model, AOK trains, supports, and sustains family child care educators—home-based providers who deliver high-quality early learning and operate small businesses in their communities. The organization manages an annual operating budget of $10M+, supported by a diversified mix of public and private grants, philanthropy, and earned program income. AOK is seeking short-term bridge financing to manage timing gaps between operating expenses and committed funding receipts, ensuring continuity of services for the educators and families it supports.

Family Child Care Networks

AOK’s Family Child Care Networks support home-based educators in building high-quality early learning programs and sustainable small businesses. Through mentorship, professional development, and peer networks, educators gain the tools to grow their programs, increase income, and deliver strong outcomes for children and families.

Training & Advising for National Partners

AOK partners with organizations across the country to scale proven approaches that strengthen family child care systems. Through technical assistance and training, partners gain the tools to expand the supply, quality, and sustainability of home-based child care in their communities.

Family child care is home-based early learning run by trained educators who provide high-quality, flexible care for young children - many of whom are children of color and often serving families who need affordable care in their communities.

Use of Proceeds & Repayment

The proceeds from this loan will allow AOK to bridge the timing gap between operating expenses and committed funding receipts, stabilizing cash flow and ensuring uninterrupted operations and program delivery. The organization manages an annual operating budget of $10M+, supported by a diversified mix of public and private grants, philanthropy, and earned program income.
This loan will be repaid through confirmed grants and philanthropic pledges expected during the loan term.

THE RESULTS ARE CLEAR

All Our Kin transforms child care quality. Their providers score, on average, over 50% higher on research-based measures of quality than non-All Our Kin providers.

All Our Kin generates economic returns. For each dollar invested in their work, they see $15 in regional economic impact. Educators involved with All Our Kin often see a $5,000 to $10,000 increase in earnings in one year.

All Our Kin improves child outcomes. Children in the care of All Our Kin providers demonstrate better social emotional development than both their non-All Our Kin peers and the national norm, and significantly outperform these groups on math and language assessments.

All Our Kin reaches nationwide. AOK is proud to provide training and technical assistance to agencies and organizations across the U.S. Across 34 states and Washington, D.C., they have partnered with 300 agencies and organizations dedicated to improving accessibility to quality family child care. In turn, they reached over 20,000 educators who have cared for over 100,000 children.

All Our Kin was co-founded by women and continues to be led by women committed to strengthening the family child care sector. For more than 26 years, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Jessica Sager has championed home-based educators and built a national movement recognizing the essential role these women play in their communities.

AOK is led by Sager together with Chief Strategy Officer Brandi King and Chief Operations Officer Dr. T. Tyler. Together, this dynamic executive leadership team guides the organization’s strategy, growth, and impact.
